OnlineNotify pings you whenever your friends on WhatsApp come online so that you can have a chat rather than sending out messages and getting replies after an infuriating long time.

WhatsApp has become the default messaging app nowadays for the majority out there; the app crossed 700 million users last week and is showing no signs of slowing down. However, even after its acquisition by Facebook, major feature updates come out pretty slowly for WhatsApp. Not that we want our favorite messaging app ruined by an overload of features, but we’d still like the option of some of our favorite features from other messaging apps.

Thankfully until then we can rely on third party jailbreak tweaks to provide us with some great features for WhatsApp, like the quick reply feature we see in iOS’s native messaging app. Similarly a new app called OnlineNotify sends you a push notification every time one of your WhatsApp contacts comes online.

As you probably know WhatsApp has two options for letting users know about your online status; they can either see what was the last time you were online or only whether you’re currently online or not. OnlineNotify will notify you whenever a contact toggles their status between online/offline.

To make sure you don’t get overwhelmed with notifications from your numerous contacts, you’re only notified when one of your ‘registered’ contacts – contacts whose online status you choose to monitor – change their status from online to offline or vice versa.

There are a handful of other useful features as well to make this app a good buy. For instance you don’t need to have WhatsApp open all the time, just have it running in the background and make sure you’re internet is connected for it to work. You can also enable/disable notifications at any time and add/remove people to the registered contacts that the app is monitoring.

The app can be bought for the price of $1.99 but unfortunately requires jailbreak. If you haven’t jailbroken your device yet but want to try it, check out the TaiG tool for iOS 8.

Assuming your device is jailbroken, you can find the app in Cydia under the BigBoss repository. Just go to Cydia and search for OnlineNotify (the BigBoss repository is already added by default). That’s all folks!
