Today 26 July 2017, Xiomi debuted MIUI 9 and showed attendees the new features it has. MIUI is Xiaomi’s first product, with the first version of the ROM launched 2010. Now the ROM has garnered over 2.8 billion downloads from 142 countries, and is translated into 55 languages. The Chinese manufacturer introduced a visual refresh last year with MIUI 8, and with MIUI 9, the focus is on refining the user interface and adding new features.
It is based on Android Nougat 7.0 and comes with three key features – Image search, Smart assistant, and Smart app launcher.

The image search is something completely new for Xiaomi devices, but you’ve probably seen it in the Photos app by Google. You can search the images by keywords of what is in the picture. Words like “selfie”, “face” and “blue” will bring photos containing what you are searching for.
The next feature is called Smart app launcher. It launches an app, based on screen contents. It can open Maps if you are talking about going somewhere.
The third major improvement of MIUI 9 is the Smart assistant. It can find anything from photos to text. The new ROM is currently available only in China.
