Over the past few years, WhatsApp has been rolling out a number of new features, Status Video being the one. The idea of Stories was originally proposed by Snapchat, however, WhatsApp left no stone unturned to mimic this feature. Available for a time span of 24 hours, the status video has gained a lot of popularity lately. Though everything seems to be great with this new feature, however, you are not allowed to download someone’s WhatsApp status video. Let alone someone else’s, you are not even allowed to download your own status videos. Not everytime we upload the status videos from Gallery, sometimes, we shot it instantly from the WhatsApp interface only. If you wish to save someone else’s status video on WhatsApp or maybe yours, you are in luck. It doesn’t matter if you are on an Android, iOS or WhatsApp web, we have got you covered.

Note: It is vital to take a note that WhatsApp has not given any authorization to save someone else’s status video. Make sure, you are not reproducing someone’s WhatsApp status video without their consent. It might land you in legal trouble.
Save Whatsapp Status Video On Android
Before you proceed, make sure you have watched the Status video which you want to save on your Android. If you have watched it already, just follow the guide as stated.
Step 1: Head over to the Google Play Store and download ES File Explorer, in case you don’t have it already.
Step 2: Now, tap on ES File Explorer and go to the Settings menu on the top left side of the screen. Then, click on Display Settings and turn on Show hidden files option.
Step 3: Next, head towards the WhatsApp Folder under Phone Storage/Sd Card and click on Media folder.
Step 4: You will see that a folder appears with the name “.Statuses” which stores all the viewed Whatsapp Status updates. You can view and save any of the status video or image.
Step 5: Finally, from the list of viewed Status videos, select the one you want to download and Save the file to your Media Directory.
Download Whatsapp Status Video On iOS
Unlike Android, iOS won’t let you dig into the internal WhatsApp files to locate the watched status videos. Moreover, there’s no standalone app which can download someone else’s WhatsApp status video. However, you can always record the screen and grab the status video along the audio.
Starting from iOS 11, you are allowed to record screen on iPhone natively. All you need to do is, just start the recording, watch the status video, save the recording when the status video ends.

Moreover, you could also edit the recorded status video, trim the clip from both the ends and save the precise version of the video, if you wish. Was that difficult?
Save Whatsapp Status Video On PC
Now you can also download someone’s WhatsApp status video on PC, thanks to WhatsApp Web.
Step 1: Launch Google Chrome and open web.whatsapp.com
Step 2: Now, scan the QR code from your smartphone and wait while WhatsApp Web launches on your PC.
Step 3: Next, click on Status icon present at the top left corner of the screen. It’s just beside the New chat icon.
Step 4: Now, open the story which you want to save. Right click on it and select “Save Image As” or “Save Video As”.
Step 5: Finally, choose the directory where you wish to save the staus video and finally tap on Save. You’ll be perplexed to see the status video in your local storage.
Download Someone’s WhatsApp Status Video
Though ES File Explorer works perfectly fine, there’s a standalone app, namely Story Saver for WhatsApp which is specially designed for this purpose and is exclusively available for Android. Considering the iOS users, I would urge you to upgrade to iOS 11 asap, this is the only way you could save someone’s WhatsApp status on your iPhone. PC users, you are always in for a treat. No hustle and bustle of apps, just right-click on the screen and you are done.
