Looking to save a few bucks by using VoIP apps instead of voice minutes? I hear you. It’s not exactly difficult to find a plan offering unlimited talk, but with a new Sprint MVNO popping up every couple of weeks and such affordable deals as T-Mobile’s $30 5GB prepaid plan still lingering around, it’s worth taking a look at cheaper options. Viber’s latest update has rolled out, doing its part to make transitioning to VoIP all the more attractive.
Viber 4.0 comes with support for Android tablets, allowing users to more comfortably bounce back and forth between multiple devices. It also rolls out new instant voice messaging, which lets users hold down a button to speak outside of calls. People who prefer texts can still get by chatting freely with other Viber users. In fact, up to 100 of you can now get together in a single group chat.
The latest version also introduces over 1000 stickers, which are available in the new Sticker Market. More stickers will come out periodically to coincide with holidays throughout the year, so anyone who wants to take emoticons up a notch has plenty to get excited about.
- TABLETS support! Use Viber on your tablet and phone simultaneously.
- Over 1000 new stickers from the Sticker Market
- Hold & Talk – instant voice messages. Your friend will hear you as you speak!
- Select conversation backgrounds from the background gallery
- Up to 100 participants in group conversations
- Improved notifications
- More fixes and improvements
Viber’s video calls and text messages are completely free between people who both have the app installed, so anyone interested should hit up the widget below. Just be sure to share it others.
