Some days ago, Facebook bought messaging giant WhatsApp for $19 billion, including $12 billion worth of Facebook shares, $4 billion cash and $3 billion worth of restricted stock units. According to Facebook, this rapidly growing mobile messaging app will continue to operate independently. But if you still think that Facebook acquisition could ruin this app, you can consider two other WhatsApp alternatives: Viber and WeChat.
Very similar to WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat also scan your phone book to identify users. Both Viber and WeChat have the same registration process as WhatsApp. Unlike WhatsApp, both allows you to call users and reply to their messages instantly. Apart from these common features, they’re quite different in the case of their world wide popularity and online reputation.
To help you decide which is the best messaging app among them, we’ve created an infographic to compare them on the basis of their page and social specific metrics. When we talk about page specific metrics, WhatsApp comes on the first place with 83 page authority. Viber comes on second number with having very similar page metrics to WhatsApp, while WeChat got the third place.
When it comes to social specific metrics, WhatsApp is the king everywhere, whether it’s Facebook, Twitter or Google+. WhatsApp got the 4.5 star rating (out of 5 stars) on Google Play, while Viber comes at second place with 4.4 star rating.
Let’s go through the infographic for more information.
