Microsoft has released Skype for Windows Phone app and it is now available for download. The Skype app is currently in Beta and the gold version of the app will be available in April 2012. Post updated:
Skype for Windows Phone is now out of beta and available for all.
This app will bring allow Windows Phones users to communicate with Skype’s 200 million users free and supports the most important Skype features. The Metro design in the new Skype app for Windows Phone makes Skype shine in a whole new way, delivering a clean and simple experience.
With Skype for Windows Phone app you will be able to make free audio and video calls to your Skype contacts over 3G and 4G or WiFi, make affordable calls to landlines and mobiles using Skype Credit. You can make and receive voice/video calls and instant messages to anyone else using Skype, whether on a Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac, PC or television.
It will also let you create and hold one-to-one and group chats, and update your profile and account information.
The Skype for Windows Phone app has been tested and certified the following devices for the best performance of Skype for Windows Phone:
- Nokia Lumia 710
- Nokia Lumia 800
- Nokia Lumia 900
- HTC Titan
- HTC Radar
- Samsung Focus S
- Samsung Focus Flash.
But of course, it will run on all Windows Phone mobile devices smoothly
The new features in the final release include: video calling in portrait mode and friend management capabilities including invite, accept invitations, block, and unblock contacts.
Skype for Windows Phone is available in 18 languages: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, and Traditional Chinese.
